prowlersrus I currently own a 2001 Black tie which I intend to keep for many years to come. I am seriously considering purchasing another Prowler to park (indoors) for 15-20 years as well. I am curious as to what to you all think would be the most collectable Prowlers in the long term. As far as collectability I am considering a 97 Purple, a 2000 Woodward, and a 2002 Candy Apple Red. Your suggestions and/or comments would be greatly appreciated.

RADCAT RICHNOW YOU STARTED IT....................
cnote6He should get an ear full.......

JMO to spark thinks up a Black Tie... or an orange.

Larry LordJust my opinion but you asked for comments,

Put your money in the bank, rent your storage space to someone else and send me share of your profits after 20 years. We'll both be able to buy a Prowler then.

A better idea might be to,
Drive it and enjoy it!

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn-out, and broke,,,,loudly proclaiming…

WOW....”What a Ride”

GenoTexHey Larry - You GET IT too!

cnote6When I bought my Prowler I said I would leave it stock and only drive it maybe 100 miles a year. Now with POA and all the new friends...... 4 years later it is in the shop for any new mod out there. drive it and enjoy!!! it took me a few years to understand.

Thank you POA and venders.

PS. Please goto all the event you can.

CJEveryone has their favorites.....that's why we all have different colors. You should just get the one that you think you'd like the best. As far as collectibility, they will all be collectibles. I don't think one color will be any more collectible than the others for the same reason we all choose different colors. Not everyone is going to think certain colors are as collectible as someone else might think!
cmblockhusIm with CJ any color as long as its a prowler and at my age 20 years from now I wont be around to know how your investment worked out I agree with all the above if you can afford more then one by all means buy as many as makes you happy but drive the crap out of all of them and 20 years from now god willin and the creek dont rise your investment will be solid.

what ever you decide I wish you well my friend

btw--orange #1

ed monahanSTOCK RED seems to be the most desirable and therefore worth the most. Keeping it totally stock enchances the value.
Marty UsherI agree with Larry's statement that there are better investment oppurtunities out there. Trying to pick which color will be the most collectable is just a matter of predicting the future. What will people like to see in 20 or 30 years. You listed three choices that seem to make since in one way or another.

Good luck in your decision. For me, it's DRIVE, DRIVE, DRIVE!

2000 Black with hand painted blue faded to purple flames

RayHave to agree with Larry this time ... whoes to say what is "worth something" 20 years from now ... heck, after Wayne's World, woulda thunk a Pacer would have some value ... go figure huh? Fewest is not always bestest when it comes to collectibility .... thus the thought that color aside ALL Kats may share the spotlight equally in the future ... who knows ... but one thing is for sure ... stock rocks when buyers come a knockin!
FreeorDie2Geez Larry! I love that quote. . .and not just for cars. Especially, I guess, since I keep thinking I need to clean up my diet and my vices, but screw it, I'll give up the extra years to continue enjoying "my ride."

When I was in my late teens, I had a '64 Alfa Romeo Guilia Spider 1600. I think it sold new for about $3K and I bought it in '67 for a thousand. I drove the hell out of it for three years, beefed it up with full cams, dual side-draft webers, etc. I eventually threw a rod through the block with such force that it cracked the starter motor housing in half. I took $100 for it gladly. To buy a similar car today, you'll pay anywhere from $15 to $30K. (And I admit I'm looking. . .)

Now I'm in my 50s. . .By the time my Prowler would appreciate to that degree, I'll either be dead or too old to enjoy either the car or the money. I think I'll take much better care of my Kat than I did my Alfa, but it's certainly something to enjoy, not keep in a safety deposit box!

Black Tie 161I figure that Mike K has all the most valuable Prowlers and will always have at least one perfect model of each color for posterity (not including the ones he beats the snot out of on the drag strips I guess..LOL).

I think the most stock Prowler will be worth the most in 20 years regardless of color.

But I'm a little partial to the Black Tie for some reason...Took it to the island yesterday and watched people's mouths literally drop open! Boy that was fun!

ROARINGreat "quote"?, Larry! I've been sliding broadside for a long time now, I just hope I have enough gas to make it to home! As for the collectible....Woodward seems to be the likely candidate!

Wayne FinchWe all know it is better to drive it than stare at it. And we know that Prowlers may not be a good investment.

However, back to the original question, if one were to buy one to sock away, my guess is the most valuable ones would have similar characteristics as the most collectible of other types of cars. In other words, the rare ones would be worth the most, and prices would be affected by mileage and mods (generally modded cars do not do well as collectibles).

So the most likely more valuable ones would be:

1. Mike's High Voltage Blue
2. Woodwards
3. Black Ties
4. Deep Candy Red

Of course, first, lasts, etc would add value. And, like other cars, a mint condition of any color would likely be more valuable than a high mileage, modded Woodward or Black Tie.

Check back in 20 years for the real answer!!!

indy96I'm with Ed Monahan...stock RED (they only did 350 2000's)
Drive it and enjoy it. Sitting in garage is like.....why?
CJOkay, I have one more thing to say and I risk getting bashed for this one..........

regardless of which color you choose, my opinion (and Bob's) is that a completely stock car will be more collectible than one with mods. JMO

ed monahanThanks for backing me up CJ!
Slip, sliding away to quote Paul Simon.
CJI know you said that.......but can't I say it too?? Since I am speaking for myself (and Bob)?
Marty UsherCJ - my car is even rarer than than the High Voltage Blue- there are TWO of them now! There is only ONE "Marty's Prowler" ! Who said stock was the best.

By the way, I actually do agree that decades from now, stock Prowlers will be what collectors will be looking for; hot rodders will be driving mine!

Yes, of course. I meant for backing me up in the fact that my car is stock, ergo, valuable.

CJI was referring to the "slip, sliding" part. I thought you were refering to my mind slipping.......like I hadn't noticed that you'd already said that!
ed monahanThat settles it, we have two distinct conversations going on. lol
yellowprowler1999I am partial to yellow. Its bright and stands out. We have yellow neon under the car. Light up really nice at night.
